Day lilies easily spread in gardens and lawns. It can invade natural areas, decreasing biodiversity. As it has a waxy coating, it resists herbicide more than other plants. Though they can be an appealing, low cost garden plant, they are highly invasive and hard to remove. They can disrupt the natural habitat and prevent native plants from growing.
