Field bindweed is often found creeping on the ground or may climb fences. It can form large mats, preventing native plants to establish in areas. It can be very aggressive and persistent, making it difficult to manage in large quantities.
Spot spray in the summer and fall. If retreating, wait for flowers to come back before each application.
Hand pull small infestations in the spring when the ground is wet.
Wild ginger is a common ground laying herb that forms attractive patches of heart shaped leaves. Root, fresh or dried, can be a ginger substitute. A delicious syrup can be made by boiling the roots in sugar water to be used on ice cream, desserts, and soda water.

This low-lying plant will creep across the garden providing sweet edible fruit. It prefers part-shade to full shade, blooming May to August. The fruit can be used in a variety of recipes for jams, jellies, and pies.
