One quackgrass plant can produce up to 400 seeds per season but most produce less than 50. This weed species can form large patches with an extensive root system. A single plant can grow from a piece of root left in the ground. Quackgrass produces a chemical that can suppress the growth of other plants and adversely affects the growth of native plants.
Spot spray with herbicide but do not spray native plants among it.
