Sow thistle is a sporadic weed of gardens and disturbed areas. Each tiny root piece can grow into a new plant. It is not a serious threat to established native plant communities. It may be a nuisance in the garden and require weeding.
Mow repeatedly and apply herbicide after.
Hand pull as much root as possible.
Spot spray as needed.
Blue vervain often comes in wildflower seed mixes and prefers moist soil. It has historically been used for a variety of medicinal treatments such as detoxification, congestion, depression, for oral health, and breastfeeding mothers.

Wood lilies have rich colored flowers that will brighten any garden. They do best when not surrounded by taller plants. Butterflies and orioles are attracted to the flowers in the summer. Wood lily roots can be used as a medicinal tea for stomach pains and fevers.
